With their novel and unique properties, nanomaterials offer new routes to address pressing needs in strategically important energy, environmental and health sectors. Furthermore, the combination of nanomaterials with different properties into nanocomposites is even more attractive since they can lead to largely improved properties and/or multiple functionalities unachievable with a single material. The chairholder will devote her effort i) to the forefront research in advanced nanocomposite materials by using cost-effective wet-chemistry to synthesize highly functional nanomaterials and further combining them towards important environmental, energy and biomedical applications, and ii) to the training of highly qualified personnel in these areas.
