This Canada Research Chair in Atmospheric and Climate Dynamics supports Professor Timothy Merlis's group at McGill University. Anthropogenic climate change is one of the greatest challenges faced by humans in this century. The research undertaken with this Canada Research Chair endeavors to reduce the uncertainty of the physical climate system in future climate projections, including changes in hazards like extreme rainfall and cyclones. Improvements in both projections and the underlying mechanisms of climate change will enhance society's ability to pursue adaption and mitigation strategies to address this challenge.
