The International Linear Collider (ILC) project is expected to be the next world-wide particle physics facility. Its accelerators will collide electrons on positrons at energies from 250 GeV up to 1 TeV. While the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the research centre CERN has discovered the Higgs particle which helps understand the origin of mass, the ILC will be essential in extending these discoveries and making precision measurements on and with these particles, their properties and modes of interaction. The two facilities are highly complementary and are both needed to challenge and feed the most fundamental theories of our physical world. Intensive world-wide efforts are currently pursued toward these objectives. Accelerator and detector design reports have been completed. Experimental detector collaborations have formed. A site has been selected in Japan to host the ILC. With international support, Japan should soon present the first political decisions. Novel calorimeters based on particle flow algorithm techniques and high granularity detectors have gone apace and are still developed. Prototypes were constructed and tested for the ILC experiments. These activities are coordinated by the international CALICE collaboration. Researchers are achieving unprecedented jet energy resolution, actual particle calorimetry tracking and are now adding precise timing information. Canadians have joined CALICE in 2005 and have already contributed to the effort out of proportion to their number. We would like to be able to continue and expand our work on calorimeter prototypes, taking data at test beams as required and performing major physics analysis of the detector responses. We have to establish the full scope of the results and prepare for their integration into the final designs required by the ILC detectors. This entails detailed response to the different types of particles, full calibration, energy and space resolution performances characteristics, as well as full development of algorithms to operate the detectors.
