英文摘要
Supercritical water possesses unique thermophysical and chemical properties. It holds much promise for ground-breaking advances in electrical power generation, hazardous waste destruction, carbon sequestration and large-scale hydrogen production. As new technologies are developed to harness its unique properties, extensive research efforts are focused on supercritical water - hydrogen and water - oxygen chemistry, along with advanced materials that are resistant to degradation under these harsh environmental conditions. My major research goal is to achieve a fundamental, molecular level understanding of high-temperature and supercritical aqueous systems, their effect on materials, and to develop innovative experimental and modeling tools for their study. My program will guide the development of the next generation energy technologies that involve large-scale power and hydrogen production using supercritical water (Generation-IV nuclear reactor, "green" hydrogen). Another practical value lies in advancing the supercritical water oxidation technology for hazardous waste treatment that has no detrimental effect on the environment
