英文摘要
Success in pharmaceutical and agrochemical research depends strongly on the ability to construct new molecules fast and efficiently to test a multitude of possible components. One of the key requirements in building molecules is to introduce heteroatoms at specific points of the molecule. The Noble prize for Palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions in 2010 recognized how these reactions made the construction of complicated molecules easier. However, in particular for medications the presence of even small amounts of remaining Palladium is problematic due to its high toxicity. Copper-catalyzed Chan-Lam reactions offer a non-toxic alternative to Palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions and have the additional advantage to work at milder conditions. The current project will increase the use, flexibility and reliability of Chan-Lam couplings by combining custom-designed catalysts with a controlled electrochemical driving force for the reaction.
