The 21st century is marked by an enormous growth in anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. CO2 capture and utilization remains one of the most practical solutions to address the serious problems caused by this major greenhouse gas. Using this approach, it is possible to use the CO2 effluents from major emitters as a chemical feedstock to generate valuable products. Catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 into value-added chemicals and alternative fuels is one of the appealing green strategies to valorize this abundant feedstock, while also contributing to alleviate the global CO2 emissions. This proposal aims to acquire an automatic high-pressure catalytic reactor able to perform a large variety of reactions under high pressure. High-pressure conditions have significant advantages on both conversion and yield. This equipment will support several research projects, mainly related to the valorization of CO2 by catalytic conversion, through different technologies.
