Nanoelectromechanical systems based on nanomaterials and their nanocomposites involving superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) are promising nanodevices for future applications in engineering and biomedical fields. The objective of the proposed collaboration is to mix these small iron oxide particles (nanometer size) with polyolefin pellets in order to create composite materials with specific physical properties. There are many applications for these devices in medical and engineering fields. This in a collaboration between the Université de Mons in Belgium and École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) in Montréal as the nanoparticles will be prepared in Belgium and the mixture and characterization will be conducted in Montréal.
