The mining industry is currently experiencing an unprecedented technological transformation of its operations. In underground mines, efficient communication systems can now be installed. These systems, which were non-existent barely three years ago, will enable the acquisition and processing of operational data in real time, the deployment of connected devices, the automation of equipment and remote control (on the surface or even at outside the mine site) of operations throughout the supply chain. In order to support the training needs of highly qualified personnel (HQP) in the mining industry to carry out this technological transformation, we propose the CREATE Intelligent and Autonomous Mine (CREATE IAM) program. CREATE IAM offers an innovative and original interdisciplinary training program resulting from consultation with several mining companies. This program will provide HQP training that will enable them to acquire a holistic vision of the technological changes to come in mining, including social, economic and environmental aspects, and to be better equipped to participate fully in this transformation. The training program will allow HQP who are unfamiliar with the mining industry to be introduced to the operation of a mine through an introductory course and a two-day visit to a mine site. FONCER- MIA will offer all HQP an internship of 4 to 8 months, focused on their research project, carried out in partnership with one of the mining companies associated with the program. Each year, a 3-day summer school bringing together industrialists, academics and HQP will allow the HQP (1) to identify current challenges and imagine realistic and functional solutions to overcome these challenges, (2) to acquire professional skills to realize their potential and put their talents to good use; and (3) to prepare to act in the face of the societal challenges of the mining industry. Finally, an annual conference will allow HQP and members of the industry to debate the scientific, technological and societal challenges relating to the mining industry.
