英文摘要
There is a growing concern about the potential eruption of the Changbaishan volcano in recent years worldwide. However, the detailed magmatic system beneath this volcano still remains hotly debated. To investigate the detailed magmatic system beneath the Changbaishan volcanic field (CHVF), this project will combine available data from the dense seismic arrays and permanent network around the CHVF, including 31 short-period seismometers around the Tianchi volcanic area and seismic stations from North Korea and South Korea, to construct a high-resolution 3-D lithospheric S-wave velocity model beneath the CHVF. We will estimate crustal thickness and the bulk crustal ratio of P-wave velocity to S-wave velocity (Vp/Vs) using the improved H-κ method by harmonic analysis on Ps and crustal multiples in receiver functions with respect to dipping layers and crustal anisotropy. And we will use receiver function method with common-conversion-point stacking technique to image the complex structure beneath the CHVF. Then we will measure dispersion curves across the CHVF for the fundamental mode and higher modes. The combined use of higher modes offers additional constraint for the velocity structure, which leads to better results of joint inversion using surface wave dispersion curves and receiver functions. We will further integrate all observational constraints on seismic anisotropy from the splitting of shear waves, the character of P-to-S conversions, and the surface wave. These will help us to isolate anisotropy in different parts of crustal and mantle should result in tighter constraints on anisotropic geometry. Then we are able to directly relate seismic velocity anomalies of lithosphere to melt fractions and distributions of the CHVF magmatic system by integrating petrological, geochemical and other geophysical data. And it will further improve our understanding of the involvement of subducted Pacific slab for the magma evolution of the CHVF.
