长白山火山是一座巨型的新生代活火山,自中新世以来多次大规模喷发,且近20年来一直在扰动,具有潜在灾害性喷发的可能性。它的成因复杂,迄今仍无定论。主要存在3个概念模型:滞留在地幔转换带内的太平洋板块脱水、堆积与增厚、或从转换带内的板片间隙向上逃逸的热物质形成的地幔上涌流。地球动力学模拟是研究/验证火山形成机制的一种常用而有效的手段,但专门针对长白山火山成因及岩浆系统演化过程的研究甚少。因此,本项目拟建立基于新生代以来太平洋板块俯冲历史的四维地球动力学模型,同化随时间变化的“过去”的数据资料和利用“现在”的观测结果作为约束条件,研究每种机制的合理性及其在长白山火山形成中的作用,进而研究岩浆系统的形成与演化过程。研究结果对于深入理解长白山火山成因、活动规律和岩浆系统演化具有重要的科学意义。研究方法对我国其它火山成因及岩浆系统演化过程的研究具有参考作用。
英文摘要
Changbaishan volcano is a giant Cenozoic active volcano. The volcano has erupted greatly many times since the Miocene and has been unresting for nearly 20 years, so it has the risk of potentially disastrous eruption. The origin of Changbaishan volcano is complex and, so far, has not been addressed. There are 3 main conceptual models, the mantle upwelling driven by the dehydration or piling up and thickening of stagnant Pacific slab in the transition zone, or by the hot materials escaped upward from a slab gap in the transition zone. Geodynamic modeling is a commonly used and effective technique to study/verify the origin of a volcano, but it is very limited specifically for the origin of Changbaishan volcano and its magma evolution. Consequently, we propose a project in which 4 dimensional geodynamic models will be set up based on the history of the Pacific slab subduction since the Cenozoic, and used to evaluate the reasonability of each mechanism and its role in the formation of Changbaishan volcano by means of assimilating the time-dependent “past” data and using “present” observables as constraints. Further, the characteristics of the formation and evolution of magmatic system of the volcano will be investigated. The results will be of great scientific significance to understand further the origin, activity and magma evolution of Changbaishan volcano, and of great practical significance for its disaster monitoring and prevention. The technique used in this project could be as a reference to probing the origin and magma evolution of other volcanoes in China.
