居住区边界融合不仅是当前国家和时代发展的要求，而且也是城市地理学研究的一个重要议题。本课题把居住区边界融合看作是一种多维度的去边界化进程。针对当前“逐步开放封闭小区”的国家政策背景和地理学科对跨界社区融合研究的不足，项目以结构-能动为理论视角，以广州为案例，使用问卷调查、访谈、GPS路径追踪、参与式观察等方法，分别从多层级政府治理、市场力量与联系流、边界社区的独特文化和地方团体的政治影响等方面研究居住空间边界融合的实践进程。通过把居民个体的能动性实践置于与其他行为者的权力结构关系中，重点解析居民的边界融合实践活动的内涵、特征及影响因素。项目同时探讨作为相关行为者之一的规划师的能动性及其推进边界融合的限制与促进因素。项目是对当前地理学有关城市内部空间边界研究的有益补充，研究成果有利于加强我们对城市空间结构及其动态进程的认识，可为建设更为开放、共享和包容的城市社会提供一定的理论和政策支撑。

The Chinese urban space is considered to be fragmented with a large number of gated communities. The central government has issued a policy to gradually open up the existing residential communities. The integration process of residential borders is not only the requirement of the current national and epoch development, but also one of the important research issues in urban geography. This project innovatively views gates as borders and the integration of residential borders as multidimensional debordering process. This project, taking Guangzhou as a case study, explores the integration process of residential borders including multi-level governmental governances, market forces and flows, the unique culture of border communities and the political clout of local groups from a structure-agency approach. The methods of questionnaires, in-depth interviews, GPS path tracking, and participatory observation are adopted. By placing the individual’s agency in the power structure relationship with other actors, this project focuses on the implications, characteristics and influencing factors of residents’ debordering practice. Furthermore, urban planners as one of the relevant actors, their agency and the influencing factors in promoting integration process of residential borders are analyzed. This project, as a supplement to the current intra-urban borders studies, is conducive to strengthening our understanding of the urban spatial structure and its dynamic process. It can provide a theoretical and policy support for building a more open, shared and inclusive urban society and can also provide to finding some concrete solutions to the difficult task of opening up urban residential spaces.
