Present spintronic devices rely on the control of magnetic moments in topologically trivial ferromagnets. Topologically stabilized magnetic skyrmions in chiral magnets provide a novel and promising platform for information transfer and storage with enhanced functionality. In order to realize such applications, a detailed understanding of the underlying magnetization dynamics is required. In this project, we study magnetization dynamics in hybrid systems consisting of ferromagnets and chiral magnets. The magnetization dynamics of skyrmions can couple to excitations in topologically trivial magnets in such hybrid systems, opening a pathway to unite advantageous properties of both systems. In the second funding period, we will study the hybridization of such dynamics in two opposite regimes. We will explore long distance, photon-mediated coupling of uniform-mode excitations as well as the coupling of magnetic excitations with large wave vectors at chiral magnet/ferromagnet interfaces. We will use specifically designed microwave resonators for a non-local coupling of the magnetization dynamics of chiral magnets and ferrimagnets. We will thereby rely on well-known magnon-photon coupling phenomena as well as on novel skyrmion-photon coupling revealed in the first funding period. Such non-local, cavity-mediated coupling phenomena with high cooperativity enable coherent transfer of excitations from topologically trivial to topologically stabilized magnetic texture. We will further employ magneto-optic techniques, in particular Brillouin Light Scattering, as well as micromagnetic simulations to study the interaction of spin waves with magnetic skyrmions at the interface of chiral magnets and ferromagnets.
