An elementary Japanese textbook for the purpose of teaching authentic Japaneses

日语作为外语/第二语言的教科书坚持向学习者介绍米老鼠日语，这是一种有趣的日语，可能在语法上“正确”，但在社会语言学和语用学上并不真实。我们认为，造成这一问题的最根本原因在于教师对语言和语言教学的规范态度；人们普遍认为日语口语不如书面语，不应该教外国学习者。我们认为，如果外语/第二语言教学的目的是帮助学习者获得语言的交际能力，那么就应该基于对语言的描述，而不是规定。我们所提出的初级日语教科书的设计是：1。引进正宗但有限的日语登记簿；日语（东京方言），这是受过教育的成年人在日常对话中实际使用的语言；不仅提供有关语言形式的语法特性的信息，而且提供支配其使用的社会语言学和语用学原则的信息。

Textbooks in Japanese as a foreign/second language persist in introducing learners to Micky Mouse Japanese, funny Japanese which may be grammatically "correct" but is not sociolinguistically and pragmatically real. We claim that the most fundamental cause of this problem is in the teachers' prescriptive attitude towards the language and language teaching ; the prevailing idea that spoken Japanese is inferior to written Japanese and should not be taught to foreign learners.We argue that foreign/second language teaching should be based on a descriptive, and not prescriptive, vies of the language if the aim is to help learners acquire communicative competence in the language. The elementary Japanese textbook which we propose is designed to :1. introduce authentic but limited register of Japanese ; the JApanese (Tokyo dialect) that is actually used in everyday conversation among educated adults, and2. provide information not only about the grammatical properties of the linguistic forms but also the sociolinguistic and pragmatic principles that govern their use.
