Media and Organs. Configurations of the Posthuman Body

该项目旨在发展一种关于媒体和/或作为机关的历史信息理论。这一理论的目的是为了更好地理解人死后身体的社会原理和过程特征。这方面的关键词是半机械人、假肢、器官移植、植入物等。本项目结合传媒学和科学史领域的创新方法，调查了医学中“心肺机”的发展，作为20世纪医学器官功能外部化的具体例子。同时，研究了身体伸展和器官投射等概念的悠久历史，追溯了它们的现代起源到早期现代时期，特别是实验哲学。通过将理论和历史方面紧密联系在一起，这个项目对延伸人体所隐含的媒体背景和社会纹理产生了新的见解。

This project aims at developing a historically informed theory of media and/as organs. The purpose of this theory is to better understand the social principles and processes characteristic of posthuman bodies. Key words in this respect are cyborgs, prosthesis, organ transplants, implants, etc. Combining innovative methods from the fields of media studies and the history of science, this project investigates the development of the "heart-lung machine" in medicine as a concrete example for the exteriorization of organ functions in 20th century medicine. At the same time, it studies the long history of concepts such as body extension and organ projection, retracing their modern origins to the early modern period, in particular experimental philosophy. By closely relating theoretical and historical aspects, this project produces new insights into the media contexts and social textures implied in extending the human body.
