Joint Study on Seismic Microzonation in Earthquake Countries

本研究的主要目的是通过对地震国家地震活动性和区域地面条件的比较，为地震减灾战略提供基础和有效的信息。由于各地区的情况不同，地震微区划程序也可能不同。因此，我们需要在每个地区考察类似的实地试验。为此，来自西班牙、美国、墨西哥、古巴、埃塞俄比亚、摩洛哥和土耳其的调查者做出了贡献。本研究期间每年举办国际研讨会，交换实验数据，并邀请广大观众讨论结果。我们在台湾、土耳其和萨尔瓦多进行了快速的实地调查，因为在研究期间这些地区发生了破坏性的地震。这些结果也有助于为每个国家制定地震微区划对策，而不仅仅是为受灾国家。

The principal objective of this research is to provide basic and effective information for earthquake disaster mitigation strategy, by means of the comparison about seismicity and regional ground conditions among earthquake countries. As the situation is quite different among them, seismic microzonation procedure might also be different. Therefore we need to examine similar field experiments in every districts. Investigators contributed for this purpose from Spain, USA, Mexico, Cuba, Ethiopia, Morocco and Turkey. International workshops were held every year of this research term to ex change the data of experiments and to discuss the results inviting general audiences.We made quick field surveys in Taiwan, Turkey and El Salvador because damaging earthquakes took place in such areas during the research term. These results were also helpful to prepare seismic microzoning countermeasures for each country, not only for damaged countries.
