LIPID AND LIPOPROTEIN ADSORPTION AT BIOMATERIALS AND BIO-DIAGNOSTICS INTERFACES

本项目旨在研究合成材料上不良生物沉积物形成的分子机制，从而为合理设计与生物流体相容性更好的材料以及新一代生物医学植入装置和生物诊断装置的工程设计奠定科学基础。众所周知，蛋白质在合成的固体表面上积累。本项目拟研究脂质和脂蛋白是否也在生物吸附过程的启动中起关键作用。结合对相关界面力量的研究，这些信息将指导预防策略的设计。

This project aims to investigate molecular mechanisms involved in the formation of undesired biological deposits on synthetic materials and thereby help establish the scientific basis for the rational design of materials with improved compatibility with biological fluids and the engineering of a new generation of biomedical implant devices and bio-diagnostic devices. It is well known that proteins accumulate on synthetic solid surfaces. This project proposes to investigate whether lipids and lipoproteins also play key roles in the initiation of biological adsorption processes. Combined with the study of the interfacial forces responsible, this information will guide the design of preventative strategies.
