Historical Study of Chinese City

近年来，中国城市史研究方兴未艾。在中国，由于“四化”，1983年成立了中国古都研究院。在土木工程、建筑和地理等自然科学领域也发表了其他几项研究。此外，在过去以古都为中心对象的中国城市研究中，现在也开始讨论其他省城的一些问题，使研究可以从首都和省城两个方面进行。而现在，根据最近出土的一些文物，讨论历史资料相对较少的前唐时期的城市已经成为现实。在这样的背景下，我们的研究机构对先秦到近代中国的城市进行了研究和分析。最后，我们确定了唐代以前中国城市的主要特征是政治和军事特征，而中国城市的商业特征开始于宋代。

Recently, historical study of Chinese city is flourishing. In China, because of "Four Modernizations", there founded in 1983 was Chinese Academy of Ancient Capital. Several other studies have also been published in the field of natural sciences such as civil-engineering, archistecture and geography.In addition to this, in the study of Chinese city whose central object used to be the ancient capitals, some problems of other provincial cities are now being discussed, enabling the study to be done from both sides, capital and provincial.And now, based on some recent excavated cultural articles, it has been becoming practically possible to discuss the cities of pre-Tangdynasty, which have comparatively few historical data.Under these circumstances, our research organization made a research and analysis of the cities from pre-Chin to modern China. As a conclusion, we made sure that, before Tangdynasty, chief charactaristic of Chinese city was political and military one, and that the commercial charactaristic of Chinese city had its beginning in Sung dynasty.
