In September/October 1994 the first field visit was made to Tanzania. Meetings were held in Dar es Salaam with representatives of government departments responsible for energy, communications, meteorology and others. A visit was made to the Engineering Faculty of Dar es Salaam University, which agreed to become responsible for Tanzania's participation in the project.
