**WHAT IS IT?**This project aims to test how people would respond to a digital therapeutic programme to support recovery from domestic abuse ('Get Out Get Love' created by Dr Craig Newman, Clinical Psychologist) and to explore where and how it could be sold, without government spending. We are offering this as a new model of care (rather than existing services such as the NHS) in the form of a self-care therapy programme, that provides people with a service that is immediately accessible and open to all, independent of sex, race, gender and sexuality. The project hopes to attract a wide range of people who are looking to recover after bad relationships, to generate income to deliver much of the offer for free to those in crisis.**THE SCALE OF THE ISSUE.**£1.6 million people report experiencing domestic abuse every year in the UK with the mental health consequences often being lifelong. This is acknowledged as a vast underestimate, as many don't see themselves as having experienced domestic abuse significantly enough to come forwards or are ashamed of the experience.Despite these figures, domestic abuse services are often under-funded, over-accessed and suffer difficulties including staff burnout and fatigue. Many domestic abuse survivors receive NHS mental health support. As a consequence, mental health costs at £180 million per year, to the NHS, with an addition £2.3 billion spent on the wider healthcare needs of domestic abuse victims. The government estimates the domestic abuse costs the nation £66 billion per year. Again, all of these figures are likely lower than in reality, due to under-reporting.**WHY A DIGITAL PROGRAMME?**Staff in the NHS and abuse services have limited places to send people for support, as all sectors are under strain. Some groups, such as men and LGBTQ+ populations can find that there is much less on offer, as most funding is directed into women's services.A digital programme offers an immediate access, no waiting list option that could break cycles of abuse, reduce mental health impact and ultimately reduce demand and cost on services and the nation. No such programme currently exists.**FUNDING OBJECTIVES**We have a programme created (Get Out Get Love). We wish to test if domestic abuse survivors will engage with a digital version and evaluate the wider market for new routes of funding, to reduce the cost on the tax payer.
