CScout Ltd’s technology preemptively searches the web for relevant and useful information while a user is browsing web pages. It helps people perform web search without a search engine by anticipating their workflow (the sequence of websites visited & web searches made by a person when completing a task online). CScout Ltd's first product was called Context Scout, a Chrome extension targeted at recruiters that operated on a single website. To expand usage to other websites and types of user, the sequence and data relevant to new tasks can be predicted by observing a person’s behaviour on the web. Once predicted, relevant data can be retrieved in advance by detecting: when a workflow has started, the task being completed, and the type of user. This can be achieved by using Dynamic Information Retrieval, a new search methodology created by the CScout founder and a UCL academic collaborator, to self-learn a user’s web-based workflow. This project will develop a digital autonomous system for the enterprise AI systems market. The system will facilitate the workflow/task automation of knowledge workers by preempting the information needs of users, based on their previous behaviour and current task, augmenting each web page the user visits with this information.
