This IAA will provide us with the opportunity to showcase all the research and impact innovations across the social sciences at Stirling to catalyse our strengths in Ageing and Dementia across a wider group of 'life course' scholarship and other areas of significant strength including in sustainability, climate change and just transitions; improving health, wellbeing and social care; improving public services through enhanced engagement with policy makers and service providers, data analysis for effective decision making. Through this IAA, our Mission Oriented 'Research for Impact' strategy will build on this expertise in translational research, however, we will also introduce a greater emphasis on collaborations with the business and the innovation-focused community. We will build on the valued-added partnerships developed during a wide range of our UKRI and other funded projects that targeted specific stakeholders to translate our research into tangible outcomes. The IAA we will allow us to capitalise on our strong foundation in interdisciplinary research to further our impact with the private sector, particularly working with commercialisation-experienced natural science colleagues at Stirling to stimulate the growth in interdisciplinary commercialisation activities led by and involving Social Scientists.To achieve the primary aims and objectives of our Stirling Social Sciences IAA, the funding will be used to support five inter-related activities for the enhancement of Knowledge Exchange, Impact and commercialisation skills: (1) Interdisciplinary 'Research with Impact' Incubation events. Purpose: Raise the profile of the IAA, including the IAA training, capacity building, funding, public engagement opportunities and introduce Interdisciplinary 'Research with Impact' Incubation events to stimulate interdisciplinary team building and stimulate engagement with IAA activities and opportunities. (2) 'Research for Impact' Training and Capacity Building Programme will include four inter-related programmes: (i) Putting Data Analysis at the heart of decision making; (ii) Enhancing public services through facilitating Mission Orientated Policy Engagement, (iii) Rising to the Co-Production Challenges of a 'Research for Impact' Research Culture; and (iv) Extending 'Research for Impact' into Commercialization.(3) 'Research for Impact' Funding Programme, will include a three tier funding mechanism: (i) Fast-track Impact Innovation Scheme; (ii) Strategic Impact Innovation Scheme; (iii) People Exchange Scheme. All Projects, events, placements and secondments funded under this Funding Programme will be assessed and evaluated against their equity, inclusivity, sustainability, their interdisciplinarity, their responsiveness and their potential legacy in terms of introducing innovations that will make a positive change in the world(4) 'Research for Impact' Engagement Festivals. We will showcase the approaches and outcomes from our IAA funded Hackathons, Policy Labs, Serious Games and Innovation Crucibles and other activities through support a series of public engagement festivals over the lifetime of the IAA award. (5) Annual 'Research for Impact' Awards Programme. We will introduce, (i) a high-profile Lecture Programme where we will invite Mission Oriented Research trailblazers to share their experiences of collaborating on interdisciplinary and cross-sector projects responding to grand challenges. (ii) Our internal annual Impact Innovation Awards linked to IAA activities. We will offer award prizes in the following Areas of Research for Impact Innovation: Innovative co-production; Innovative policy engagement, innovative public engagement, and innovations in the commercialisation of impacts. Funding will be ring-fenced across all 5 areas of activities for PGRs, ECRs and MCRs to accelerate the pipeline of 'career young' researchers with enhanced impact, partnership development and commercialization skills.
