Involvement in the ARC SHAPE Accelerate programme will enable the development of a sustainable business model to support and allow for the future scale-up of the HOPE Boxes offer.The HOPE Boxes are a co-produced trauma-informed offer which aim to reduce the trauma experienced by women and babies separated close to birth due to safeguarding concerns. The two boxes, one for mother and the other for baby, have been co-designed with mothers with lived experience of separation and contain items to reduce stigma, help capture important early memories before separation, promote an ongoing connection between mother and baby post-separation and depending on the outcome of care proceedings, support longer-term grief, loss and identity work. The HOPE Boxes are underpinned by Born into Care, a research series led by The Centre for Child and Family Justice Research Centre at Lancaster University, SAIL databank at Swansea and supported by the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory.The Born into Care research series has brought attention to the escalating number of infants entering care proceedings in England and Wales and the profound impact and enduring consequences of separation on both mothers and babies. The findings also highlight gaps in the support and training offered to health and social care practitioners involved in this emotionally demanding work. The HOPE Boxes innovation has been designed to address these issues by offering a tangible improvement to professional practice across the system. First piloted as part of the Born into Care Best Practice Guidelines in seven Health Trusts and partner local authorities, the research team are now seeking to develop a business model to support the longer-term sustainability and scale-up of the Giving HOPE project and HOPE boxes offer. In line with the ARC Accelerate programme requirements we have the following key goals for the end of this programme. 1. To develop a clearly articulated sustainable business and financial model2. To ensure the company is registered and trading3. To have identified and resolved any issues surrounding branding and licensing explored4. To have completed a full market analysis has been completed5. To have explored sponsorship possibilities6. To have explored investment opportunities 7.
