Project Description The proposed research aims to employ a range of observational and qualitative methods to assess how prosthesis users interact with real-world environments and objects. The information gained will be used to facilitate participatory design activities focussed on the design of objects and environments. The research will add to existing work on real-world prosthesis use and user-centred design by studying, for the first time: The relationship between prosthetic device, environments and objects in upper-limb prosthesis control The tacit knowledge held by upper-limb prosthesis users which supports everyday activities What design considerations should be applied to everyday objects and environments from the perspectives of upper-limb prosthesis users
