TREATMENT OF SUBCLINICAL VIT D DEFICIENCY AND RICKETS INFANTS/TODDLERS

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Specific Aims Aim#1: To evaluate the prevalence of occult vitamin D deficiency and rickets among a clinic sample of healthy infants and toddlers at a hospital-based primary care clinic. Aim #2: To identify risk factors (both maternal and child) for vitamin D deficiency and rickets within this sample, including age, nutrition, supplementation, and interaction between age and nutritional factors. Aim #3: To evaluate the efficacy of two different regimens for the treatment of vitamin D deficiency and rickets.
