EFFECTS OF CE IN THE MPTP PRIMATE MODEL OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This year, we conducted a pharmacokinetic study to determine the plasma levels of levodopa in trials of co-administration with CE, the cannabinoid antagonist. The study was conducted in two animals with tests of levodopa alone or combined with the effective dose of CE during acute trials over a period of 6 weeks. The addition of CE did not affect the plasma levels of levodopa confirming that the effects of CE are not produced by interaction with levodopa pharmacokinetics.
