生物医学蛋白质组学设施 当地和外部研究界已经确定了UCC蛋白质组学设施服务的需求，以支持基础和转化及临床研究工作。目前，由于缺乏资金和技术支持，这项服务提供有限。UCC的生物医学蛋白质组学设施（BPF）将为研究人员提供分析和鉴定蛋白质的能力，以解决以前由于缺乏蛋白质组学技术支持而无法研究的基础和转化研究问题。BPF提供的科学支持将促进蛋白质组学融入基础和转化研究项目，并向授权机构提交新的研究提案。具体目标1：向UCC和波多黎各大学的主要研究人员提供科学和技术支持，以完成研究项目。具体目标#2：吸引新的科学家对蛋白质组学的技术和兴趣，他们在建立合作，利用在BPF可用的技术。具体目标#3：与波多黎各学术界和工业界的科学家建立合作。具体目标#4：提供蛋白质组学方法的教育和培训。该设施的目标是将敏感和定量技术应用于相关的生物医学和基础科学问题。到目前为止，BPF在为几位研究人员提供2D凝胶和质谱初步数据方面发挥了重要作用。最终，BPF将促进学术界和制药业之间建立伙伴关系，使UCC成为蛋白质分析的先锋，并为招募新科学家和建立岛内外合作做出贡献。

Biomedical Proteomics Facility A need for a proteomic facility service at UCC has been identified by the local and external research community to support basic and translational and clinical research efforts. Currently, this service is provided on a limited basis due to the lack of funding and technical support. The Biomedical Proteomics Facility (BPF) at the UCC will provide researchers with the ability to analyze and identify proteins to address basic and translational research questions that could not be previously studied due to the lack of support in proteomics techniques. The scientific support provided by BPF will facilitate the integration of proteomics into basic and translational research projects and submission of new research proposals to granting agencies. The following SPECIFIC AIMS will be carried out: Specific Aim #1: Provide scientific and technical support to principal investigators within UCC and other universities in Puerto Rico for the accomplishment of research projects. Specific Aim #2: Attract new scientist to the technique of proteomics and interest them in establishing collaborations exploiting the technologies available at BPF. Specific Aim #3: Establish collaboration with scientists in the academia and industry of Puerto Rico. Specific Aim #4: Provide education and training in proteomic methods. The goal of this facility is the application of sensitive and quantitative technologies to relevant biomedical and basic scientific questions. So far the BPF has played an essential role in supplying 2D gels and mass spectrometry preliminary data for several researchers. Ultimately, the BPF will facilitate the establishment of partnerships between the academia and pharmaceutical industry, situating UCC at the vanguard in protein analysis and contributing to the recruitment of new scientist and the establishment of collaborations in and outside of the island.
