This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this research study is to identify genes that are associated with a high or low bone density in young women with anorexia nervosa. Patients with anorexia nervosa are at risk for early bone loss and the early development of brittle bones or osteoporosis. From previous research, we know that a person's bone density is determined to a large extent by genes passed down through family members.
