This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
We aim to measure and compare changes in total body water and body weight during various hydration states. Subsequently, we aim to compare the physiological and thermoregulatory effects of euhydration (fully replace sweat loss) and dehydration (partially replace sweat loss) during prolonged running in the heat (Specific Aim 2). We also aim to compare the effects of euhydration and dehydration on prolonged running performance in young endurance-trained athletes.
