This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The purpose of this study is to get behavioral, psychiatric, cognitive, developmental, and biologic information about young children with and without Autism Spectrum Disorders. This work is expected to result in pilot data that will support the feasibility of a more comprehensive assessment and intervention application.
Specific aims include the comparison of oxytocin and vasopressin baselines in prepubertal individuals with Autism to healthy controls and to explore gender differences
and to explore if children with Autism have the same cortisol variation over the course of a morning as healthy control children that completed the same protocol.
