英文摘要
The supported research program focuses on the development and experimental validation of real-time digital simulation and control algorithms for power electronic apparatus applied to power systems, and electrical drives. Due to rapid developments in the power rating and switching frequency of power semiconductors, sophisticated power electronic apparatus, in multi-pulse and multi-level configurations are finding wide ranging applications in electrical power generation, transmission, distribution and utilization. Digital controllers using Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are increasingly being employed to control such power electronic apparatus.  Prior to commissioning there is a need for rigorous testing of the power electronic apparatus and its digital controller in the context of the host power system. Currently, real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation is the only cost-effective method to perform such testing. The main goals of the supported research program are the following: (1) to develop highly accurate and efficient models for power electronic systems, and techniques for interfacing such models with accurate models for realistic-size power systems, (2) to design and develop novel real-time digital control algorithms for fast, precise, robust, and well-coordinated control of the power electronics apparatus, (3) to experimentally validate the real-time models and algorithms for simulation, control, and interfacing. The requested real-time oscilloscope is a vital measurement and analysis instrument which will provide accurate and detailed information about various digital/analog signals that will be encountered in the experimental validation and hardware-in-the-loop testing with the real-time digital simulator. This research will have a significant influence on the design, development and commissioning of real-time digital controllers for power systems and electrical drives equipped with advanced power electronic apparatus.
