Cognitive processes and linguistic factors in written language acquisition

初学阅读和写作的人面临的一个主要挑战是掌握复杂的拼写结构（即描述字母在书面语言中如何排列的约束），并将其与他们对口语的了解结合起来。虽然大多数孩子通过自学完成了这一壮举，但仍有一些孩子继续与书面语言的复杂性作斗争。这项工作将对书面语言习得的学习过程进行系统的分析。预计这项工作将为加拿大的科学界和教育界提供有价值的知识。

Cognitive Processes and Linguistic Factors in Written Language Acquisition A major challenge facing beginning readers and writers is to master the complexities of spelling structure (i.e., the constraints describing how letters are sequenced in the written language), and to integrate this with what they know about spoken language.  Although the majority of children accomplish this feat through self-learning, a number of children continue to struggle with the complexities of written language.  This work will provide a systematic analysis of the learning processes underlying written language acquisition.  It is expected that this work will provide valuable knowledge for both scientific and educational communities in Canada.
