Mathematics is the study of patterns in order to make predictions. If a pattern has a symmetry then it is better understood and aids in making predictions. A differential equation is a compact way of implicitly describing a pattern that is a family of curves or surfaces (the solutions of the differential equation). A primary objective of this proposal is to find the symmetries of such families (patterns) without solving the differential equation and then using the symmetries to find solutions or properties of solutions of differential equations.
