Dynamic light scattering unit for the characterisation of nanoparticles used in life sciences

近年来，纳米生物技术这一术语得到了几乎所有工业部门和科学界越来越多的关注。它指的是使用非常小的材料来改善和/或提高几乎任何类型的产品(航空航天、医药、生物、纺织、化妆品、食品等)的性能。这种小材料的基本元素被称为纳米颗粒，因为它们的尺寸；至少有一个尺寸是100纳米以下的直径，其中纳米是公制中等于十亿分之一米的长度单位。目前申请的资金是购买一种仪器，允许在给定关于它们的大小和均质性的信息的情况下对这些纳米粒子进行表征，这是在进行任何类型的实验之前的重要一步。

In the recent years, the term nanobiotechnology has gained a fulminant increasing attention from almost any industrial and scientific sectors. It refers to the use of very small materials that can be used to ameliorate and/or increase the properties of almost any kinds of products (aerospace, medicine, biology, textile, cosmetics, foods, etc.) . The basal element of that kind of 'small material' is called nanoparticles because of their dimension; at least one dimension as a diameter under 100 nm where nm is a unit of length in the metric system equal to one billionth of a metre. The present requested funds is to purchase an instrument that allows the characterization of these nanoparticles given information on their size and homogeneity, a major step before doing any kind of experiments.
