I propose to use my NSERC grant to continue my research on the evolution of animal behaviour and its impact on population and community dynamics. I will combine game theory with mathematical models of population and community dynamics to explore interactive feedback between individual behaviours (such as food scrounging, cannibalism, host manipulation by parasites, hitch-hiking among parasites, spite and altruism) and the composition of the natural populations and communities in which these behaviours evolve. These feedback mechanisms allow individual behaviour to affect population and community dynamics and, in turn, population size and community composition influence which behaviours will occur within a given population.
