Government has identified the “opportunities and challenges of an economy in transition” as a key issue for Australia as it faces a rapidly changing global environment. In seeking to ‘Secure Australia’s Future’, this multidisciplinary research program will identify Australia’s unique strengths and comparative advantages; establish which contexts and policy settings encourage creativity, adaptability and innovation; and explore the natural, social, geographical, economic, cultural and scientific attributes and capabilities needed to thrive as a nation. This unique research program harnesses the knowledge, expertise and networks of Australia’s four Learned Academies to deliver innovative solutions to the complex problems confronting the nation.
