In this proposal we address the problem of human action recognition. The grand goal in this area of computer vision is to build systems that can find human figures in either still frames or video sequences, and determine what action they are performing. The ability to build such systems would facilitate many interesting applications. This technology would be directly applicable to human-computer interaction, image and video retrieval and search, automated surveillance systems, video motion capture, and vehicle driver-assist systems.
