The Industry Partner is developing infrastructure for extracting energy from tides, inland waters and nearshore waters through strategically placed turbines. The performance of their infrastructure designs is heavily influenced by the canals and open channels that will provide the energy to these turbines. Currently, the tools available to simulate the performance of these systems is inadequate. The Industry Partner requires a more lightweight and in-house capability for quickly simulating the performance of these systems for a wide range of potential project locations. The proposed grant will help the Industry Partner to implement an analysis/design package that is suitable for providing the infrastructure level information and canal information to make the assessment.
