Biological research, which encompasses fundamental research in academic labs, drug discovery in pharmaceutical companies, and clinical research in hospitals requires predictable biological models. In recent years, organoids has emerged and attracted significant attention in academic research as well as in the commercial sectors. Organoids are mini organs that are grown in a dish over time from a single or a small cluster of human stem cells. Though organoids cannot replace humans, they can offer valuable insights into the function of drugs, the mechanism of disease progression, and the process of organ development that cannot be provided by single-cell assay or animal models. However, there is one critical biological component that is missing in all organoids - a perfusable blood vessel network. To solve this problem, we developed a platform (here referred to as IFlowPlate) that can be used to grow an array of perfusable blood vessel network to vascularize organoids on demand Commercialization of our IFlowPlate platform is to provide academic, pharmaceutical and hospital lab with a more physiological model and a way to probe the model with intravascular perfusion by upgrading existing organoid cultures with vasculatures. We propose to commercialize the IFlowPlate by establishing an ecosystem of collaborators and beta testers around IFlowPlate to continuously validate our product and expand its application. The requested funds for a Market Assessment will provide recommendations and data to enable us to created a product development and business for successful technology transfer and positioning in the market.
