Despite consensus that clinicians should receive cultural competence training to reduce mental health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities, few studies have evaluated trainings in community settings. This column delineates the DSM-5 Cultural Formulation Interview’s (CFI) implementation at a community hospital. Clinicians could implement the CFI after a single training session, administrative support, and instructions on customizing care with lower-middle income, racially and ethnically diverse patients.
