Workshop on an Optical-Based CD ROM Information Storage and Retrieval System

光盘是信息存储技术的一个很有前途的新突破。本讲习班特别感兴趣的是光盘在图书馆和信息中心的应用潜力。除了讲习班专家之间的思想交流外，还将编写一份总结报告，确定国家科学基金会在这一领域可以发挥的作用，并记录今后开发、使用和应用光盘的机会。

CD ROM is a promising new breakthrough in information storage technology. Of special interest to this workshop will be the potential for applications of CD ROM in libraries and information centers. In addition to the interchange of ideas between specialists at the workshop, a summary report will be prepared identifying the role the National Science Foundation can play in the field and documenting the opportunities for future development, uses and application of CD ROM.
