Partial Support of the Forum on Global Change and Our Common Future

美国国家科学院（NAS）国家研究委员会（NRC）将与史密森学会（Smithsonian Institution）、美国科学促进会（AAAS）和美国科学研究协会（Sigma Xi）共同主办一场大型公共论坛“全球变化与我们共同的未来”。论坛旨在向公众传达一种科学平衡的观点，即全球环境中似乎正在发生的变化，这些变化对社会可能意味着什么，以及什么样的政策可能适合缓解和/或适应这些变化。本次论坛将选出16名全国认可的高中教师参加。会议结果也将在论坛结束后公布。

The National Academy of Sciences' (NAS) National Research Council (NRC) will co-sponsor a major public "Forum on Global Change and Our Common Future", together with the Smithsonian Institution, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society. The Forum is intended to communicate to the public a scientifically balanced view of the changes which appear to be occurring in the global environment, what these changes might mean for society, and what kinds of policies may be appropriate to mitigate and/or to adapt to these changes. A group of sixteen nationally recognized high school teachers will be selected to participate in the Forum. The results will also be published following the Forum.
