Workshop on Plant Molecular Biology, Washington, D.C.; October 11-13, 1989

美苏联合举办的植物分子生物学研讨会拟由美国国家科学院和苏联科学院主办。研讨会将于1989年10月在华盛顿特区举行，将围绕三个主要主题组织：植物病毒、类病毒和其他生存要素的分子生物学；植物保护中的土壤微生物；植物和微生物的分子结构工程。苏联科学在病毒学领域尤为强大。年轻的苏联科学家是苏联植物分子生物学发展的重要组织力量。美国代表团既有老牌的调查人员，也有新近成为该领域领导者的年轻科学家。这一联合研讨会将使这些将在植物分子生物学领域发挥重要作用的个人能够及时互动。

A joint US-USSR workshop on plant molecular biology is proposed to be sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences, USA and the Academy of Sciences, USSR.. The workshop will be held in Washington, D.C. in October of 1989 and will be organized around three major themes: Molecular biology of plant viruses, viroids and other survival elements; Soil microorganisms in plant protection; and Engineering of molecular structures in plants and microbes. Soviet science is particularly strong in the field of virology. The younger Soviet scientists are significant organizing forces in the development of plant molecular biology in the USSR. The American contingent is composed of both established investigators and young scientists recently emerging as leaders in the field. This joint workshop will allow the timely interaction of these individuals who will play a major role in the field of plant molecular biology.
