International Travel Grant to Visit Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan (Spring of 1991)

这一举动是为了给叶教授提供到日本的R/T机票。此次访问的目的是1)在东北大学灾害控制研究中心(特别是海啸工程系)之间建立更紧密的研究互动在该中心内)和美国的海啸研究人员，2)获取难以获得的关于海啸(地震海浪)的实地数据和历史数据，以确定应对#年海啸对沿海地区潜在威胁的研究需要美国，3)促进叶教授和日本研究人员之间关于海啸的信息交流；4)与世界著名海啸工程研究人员Shuto Nobuo教授讨论可能的研究合作，以及6)参观过去遭受海啸袭击和破坏的沿海地区。

This action is to provide R/T airfare to Japan for Professor Yeh. The purpose of this visit is 1) to establish closer research interactions between the Disaster Control Research Center at Tohoku University (and especially the Tsunami Engineering Department within this Center) and tsunami researchers in the United States, 2) acquire hard-to- obtain field data and historical data on tsunamis (seismic sea waves) which could identify research needs to address the potential tsunami threat to coastal areas in the U.S., 3) to facilitate the interchange of information on tsunamis between Professor Yeh and researchers in Japan, 4) to discuss with Professor Nobuo Shuto (a world renowned tsunami engineering researcher) possible research cooperation, and 6) to visit coastal sites subjected to past tsunami runup and damage.
