9523242 Dong International research cooperation has been recognized as an important and effective means to advance scientific and engineering knowledge. Due to the rapid economic development in China, a number of new opportunities for joint cooperation emerged, and these opportunities have caught attention of leaders of research communities in both countries, in civil infrastructure systems (CIS) research. China, being one of the countries rapidly building as well as renewing its massive deteriorating infrastructures in place, has particular emphasis on R&D in support of a CIS construction program. The purpose of the visit is to exchange research progress and promote cross-fertilization of ideas in civil infrastructure research and technology development.
