In the last funding periods we identified novel functions for skin insulin/IGF/FoxO metabolic signalling in the regulation of stem cells, skin DNA repair, inflammation and barrier function. We will now ask how Insulin/FoxO signalling controls skin barrier function, examine how skin insulin resistance contributes to skin associated pathology in type 2 diabetes and address the role of neuronal insulin signalling in skin function and diabetic skin complications.
