Thermal Modeling and Experimental Testing of Droplet Interface Heat Transfer for Microcasting Spray Shape Deposition Processes

摘要：本工作是对微铸过程中传热和流动现象的基础性研究。本文将对金属熔滴撞击表面的扩散和凝固过程进行数值模拟和实验测试。通过冲击液滴重熔固体基底，模拟具有潜在同时熔化前沿的不同材料，以及模拟连续液滴/基底系统共轭。对控制热流体方程的谱元直接数值模拟将通过实验加以验证。该技术的应用包括多层材料的制造、微结构可控的人工制品和嵌入电子元件的人工制品。

ABSTRACT CTS-9630801 Amon This work is a fundamental investigation of heat transfer and flow phenomena in microcasting. The spreading and solidification of molten metal droplets impinging on a surface will be modeled numerically and tested experimentally. Remelting of the solid substrate by the impacting droplet, modeling of dissimilar materials with potential simultaneous melting fronts, and modeling the continuous droplet/substrate system conjugately will be addressed. Spectral element direct numerical simulations of the governing thermo-fluid equations will be verified by experiments. Applications of this technology include manufacturing of multi-layer materials, artifacts with controlled microstructures, and artifacts with embedded electronic components.
