NSF 0523450Workshop on Visualization for Computer Security Kwan-Liu MaThis award supports a workshop held in Minneapolis, Minnesota during the week of Oct. 24, 2005, in conjunction with Visualization 2005 Conference (Vis2005), and the Information Visualization 2005 Symposium (InfoVis2005) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Many computer security procedures, such as system logs used in intrusion detection, can generate vast quantities of data. Visualization of these data sets can help direct the process of intrusion detection and adversary characterization. The workshop will help establish a community of researchers knowledgeable in both computer and network security and in visualization techniques. The award supports student travel to the workshop, a guest speaker, and production of workshop proceedings.
