英文摘要
0651836MartinThis US-Brazil Award will support a workshop on Amazonian aerosol particles. The meeting is being organized by Dr. Scot Martin of Harvard University, in collaboration with Dr. Paulo Artaxo of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Director of the Brazilian Millennium Institute on Land use Changes in the Amazon: Climatic and Carbon Cycling Implications (Milenio LBA). The workshop will bring together graduate students and senior researchers from the United States, Brazil and Europe to discuss the formation, and transformation of Amazonian aerosol particles as well as their effect on clouds and radiation. This workshop will define research priorities, consider new research approaches, and address mechanisms for international collaboration. Amazonian aerosol particles are very important as a climate regulator in the southern hemisphere. Therefore, understanding the effects of past and future human activities on them is a priority for planning strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change. This workshop will define research priorities, consider new research approaches, and address mechanisms for further international collaboration.
