RET Site: Notre Dame RET Site in Engineering

This award provides funding for a 3-year standard award to support a Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering Site program entitled, "RET Site: Notre Dame RET Site in Engineering (EngRET@ND)," at the University of Notre Dame under the direction of Dr. Wolfgang Porod.EngRET@ND will fund 25 middle and high school science teachers per year for three years, to participate in a summer research program for 6 to 8 weeks which will focus on important engineering challenges facing society, such as the environment, energy, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. ENGRET@ND participating teachers will not only perform research in state-of-the art laboratories, they will also be required to develop curricular materials appropriate for middle or high school students guided by an inquiry-based approach to science teaching.
