The objective of the project is the design of a hollow-beam klystron with a rotating field in themodulating resonator, such that a helix shaped beam develops. That allows for higher currents,larger resonators, a higher output efficiency and a very efficient frequency multiplication.The project is supported by the DFG since 1.9.2012. A first design of a 10GHz klystron with 50%efficiency and 49dB gain is well advanced. Also, first results for a w-band klystron were achieved.The work was performed with in-house developed codes for particle tracking and particle-in-cellsimulations.The continuation of the project shall treat the design of an x-band klystron with higher azimuthalmodes, thus creating 3 or 4 helix shaped interwoven beams suited for very high powers (MW). Atw-band and for medium power (some 100W) a frequency tripling device shall be investigated, with30GHz input and 90GHz output resonators. In addition, work on the hollow-beam cathode has to becontinued.
